We want Zimbabweans to work in South Africa: Demands Julius Malema

EFF leader Julius Malema has appealed to employers to give South Africans preference as the country faces an all-time high youth unemployment rate of 66.5%.

“We want to make an emphasis to the owners of restaurants that no-one should stop employing Zimbabweans and say the EFF said they don’t want them,” he said on Wednesday.

Malema's utterances come after he led his red berets on a restaurant inspection last week to inspect how many foreigners were employed by establishments.

He visited Kream restaurant in Mall of Africa and also called on his Fighters to go occupy the Kream in Menlyn, Pretoria.

Malema's actions were met with massive criticism after many questioned who gave him authority to go to people's businesses to do inspections.

The EFF leader has been on a campaign to have borders opened for foreigners to come and go freely from their countries. Zimbabweans are preferred in the hospitality industry due to them being called "cheap labour".
