South African youth got a great opportunity.
57 young men and women under the youth category were beneficiaries of a three-day soft skills training programme where this group of unemployed youth were trained to be business men and women.
This enthusiastic group was taught about self development and entrepreneurship. Over and above the theoretical education, the youth were given practical skills. 9 people were trained in decor and florals, 14 in baking, 10 in makeup, 8 in nails and 16 in catering.
Addressing the beneficiaries, the Mayor Cllr Sibongile Khathi highlighted that the imparted skills by seasoned entrepreneurs will be beneficial almost immediately as those that have been trained can even start working from home while they await the formal processes of registering their businesses in these different fields.
Mayor Khathi added that the youth forms an integral part in the development of our communities. “The youth have a mammoth task to continue the legacy of the current government that of ensuring that the previously disadvantaged are given opportunities to development themselves and their communities. “
In conclusion, Mayor Khathi encouraged the youth to make the most of these opportunities and become the youth that embraces opportunities and make a breakthrough in being the youth that is educated, skilled and positive contributors to the local economy.
Umdoni municipality collaborated with Future Leaders, led by Ms Zanele Mbokazi in ensuring the youth are empowered and are able to take care of their families.
The upcoming local government elections is one of the main concern as all municipalities official are working tirelessly to ensure service delivery are serve according to the standard of people.Umdoni Municipality is located in South Coast in Kwa Zulu Natal.Youth empowerment programs must be priorities because youth is the future of this country.All stakeholders their main objective is to enforce service delivery to the people.
