DPSA Issued An Announcement For Public Servants

Department of Public Service and Administration (DPSA) recently issued a circular regarding the payment of the last leg of the bargaining agreement, the 1,5% adjustment which will be payable to all employees regardless of their performance standards. The circular states that Treasury will be implementing the said adjustment with the actual payment date of 2nd December 2021.

To the surprise of many, the 1,5% adjustment will not run concurrently with the pay progression as previously agreed, because of the so called "double-dipping". According to the DPSA the coding on the system will not allow for pay progression and general adjustment to simultaneously run as per norm.

What this means in simple terms is that, those that have already received their annual pay progression will not be able to get the 1,5% adjustment and vice verse.

The implementation of payments of this nature further brings worry and frustration among workers as the previous one was not properly executed, particularly in the Eastern Cape where workers had to wait for their payments for hours due to technical glitches experienced by the service provider.
