Top 4 important things to do after completing matric


Let me guess you recently finished your matric and you're done with high school. Now, you want to know what to do after Grade 12? Firstly, we would like to congratulate you on yet another milestone achieve within your life. You've done incredibly well on your matric results and we couldn't be more proud of you. We love and appreciate you, please go out there and be greater as the world is your oyster. The following are something that you can look into doing after completing matric.


This is usually offered by a company, whereby you get to study for a profession and also get work experience. This means its 50% theory and 50% practicals. Learnerships are aimed at promoting training and job creation within numerous sectors. It's inclusive of disabled learners as well. People get a stipend within the course of their learnerships which can be from R1500 to even R15 000, however it depends on the sector you're on, as some pay more than others. People even get the recognised qualification after meeting all the requirements. People need to submit their certified copy of their matric certificate and Identity Document (ID), alongside a CV.

*Getting a job:

It could be that you want to get money to support your family, even save to study further. Since people are not all lucky to be born in wealthy families and even get opportunities of getting bursaries, scholarships or study loans.

You get part-time work whereby you can do something for a short time, such as an office assistant or receptionist.

You get full-time employment whereby you can get a contract from large companies, such as banks, etc.


This is whereby you offer your services to an institution or organisation without getting paid. However, you get to learn from other people and it will do wonders for your CV - you'll get good references. Also, you will be able to learn new skills and the patience required to work with people.

*Job shadowing:  

This is whereby you get companies that deal with your field of work then offer to shadow their employees or managers doing their day-to-day activities within the workplace environment. You will have to go to HR offices to ask if they have any job shadowing or mentorship programme within their companies. The incredible part is that this can lead to internship, learnership or even a full-time position.

These can be on your radar this year as you want to do something with your life. Always choose wisely, take your time and please know that you're allowed to change your mind about what you want to do in life. As long as you do what you love, then it won't feel like work to you.
