Shoprite said that the money market account, which replaces the basic Shoprite Money product launched in May 2018, will grow to have most of the transactional capabilities of a full banking account.

The account will allow customers to make any form of transaction at any Shoprite, Checkers and Usave stores. This further includes any online transactions, such as Computicket.

The account is very flexible to any customer because of its characteristics. Shoprite said it is cost free, affordable and effective to be used by any person.

Jean Olivier, general manager: Financial Services for the Shoprite group said, "they are extending money market services to help customers to transact securely and to save, as the group is acutely aware of the importance of saving at this time".
