The Hoonigans enjoy acquiring insane, high-performance machines and pitting them against one another.
It's even more entertaining when they use the Ken Block Hoonicorn Ford Mustang. The latest Hoonicorn vs The World 2 installment pits a 4,000-hp NHRA Corvette C6 against a 1,400-hp all-wheel-drive Hoonicorn Mustang in a monster horsepower showdown. And, best of all, Lia, Block's 14-year-old daughter, drove the Mustang.
A 1965 Ford Mustang serves as the basis for the Hoonicorn. It has a 1,400-hp twin-turbo V8 engine and all-wheel drive, which gives it excellent traction off the line. The power is delivered via a six-speed paddle-shift Sadev transmission, and the car weighs just under 3,000 pounds.
Alex Laughlin and his 4,000 hp 526 Screw Blown HEMI NHRA Corvette with a three-speed Lenco Transmission and rear-wheel drive are its competitors. So, with the exception of its all-wheel-drive system, the Mustang is vastly outclassed in almost every category.
The 4,000 hp figure may appear unbeatable, but with all-wheel drive and better tires, the Mustang could easily win this. Round one is a 500-foot head-to-head race, and the winner will be determined by the best of three.
Lia Block in the Mustang had a much better launch than the 4,000 hp Corvette and won the race, but both cars made it a thrilling affair. The Hoonigan team laid down some traction compound ahead of round two to help the Corvette C6 off the line.
Round two was another 500-foot head-to-head, and this time it was a lot closer! The C6 benefited from the traction compound, and it won by a bumper over Lia and the Mustang. Laughlin offered something in exchange for the Hoonigan guys allowing him to do a 500-foot race and suggested they do a 1,000-foot race head to head.
The two cars lined up again, and the Hoonicorn Mustang easily edged out the Corvette, thanks in part to an epic launch off the line. Lia Block was especially impressive considering she is only 14 years old. This was a massive Hoonigan brawl.
