BMW M3 and M4 Wins people over despite the large grill

M3/M4 recently launched and it was not without opinion from cars journalist, car enthusiasts and petrol heads. The rather unusual large grill was the centre point of the conversation but all was forgotten when the hood was open showing off its new S58 engine first feature on the X3M/X4M.

The outgoing inline-six engine the S55 was producing 425HP's and 431HP's in a Competition pack all dished out through the lightning-fast MDCT transmission. The new S58 produces 480HP's and 510HP's in a Competition pack with ZF 8 speed torque converter transmission.

South Africa will only receive the competition pack just like the United Kingdom retailing at around R1.6M for M3 and R1.8 for M4. Price will quickly rise because of the availability of options, carbon-ceramic breaks alone cost more than 100 000 and the carbon fibre bucket seats 80 000.

Being the benchmark of performance pressured the Munich based motor giant and they delivered.

0-100 under 3.8 seconds

Bavarian motor giant says the M3/M4 will be available in Xdrive 6months from now, which simply mean there will be a for when drive version so far the one launched its rear-wheel-drive which means it will get even faster.
