A Picture of a Petrol Attendant filling up a VW Polo got people talking. Here's why. Opinion.

There are arguably a lot of people around South Africa who love the VW Polo and hold it in high regard. This has made it one of the most popular cars in the Country. While that's okay, just because you own a popular car, it doesn't give you the right to treat other people badly. Especially people who are just trying to do their job. Here's why a picture of a Petrol Attendant filling up a VW Polo got people talking and my opinion of it.

The Picture :

The picture above was uploaded to social media site Facebook via the "Car Maniacs Botswana" page. In it we see a petrol attendant kneeling in front of a Polo while filling it up.

The image was accompanied by the Caption "Kneel down when you serve the king". This of course got a lot of South Africans talking. Here's what some of them had to say.

As we can see, these people didn't like what they were seeing. While some were unhappy with the way the petrol attendant was being treated. Others were unhappy that he had to kneel down to a VW Polo and not a more powerful car.

My Opinion :

The issue I have with this image is that it's a petrol attendant bowing down to the car and not the owner of the car. This image would have been perfectly fine if it was literally anyone else, but having a stranger whose just trying to do their job to feed their family, bow down to your vehicle just seems dehumanizing. While some may claim that he was paid to do it, or they gave him a huge tip, it still brings up the situation of putting another human being in a compromising situation for a monetary reward.

I would like to urge people to treat staff and workers at the establishments they visit with respect.
