Audi's electric vehicle lineup for South Africa — including pricing

Audi has begun taking reservations in South Africa for its completely electric e-tron range, which will go on sale in the first quarter of 2022.

Customers may now book their preferred e-tron vehicle through the Audi e-tron Dealer Network, the company announced on Thursday (25 November 2021).

The following five electric vehicle (EV) models are available, with prices starting at just under R2 million:

The footprint of a retailer and the availability of public charging at a dealership

The e-tron model line will have a nationwide retail footprint of ten Audi stores, according to Audi. Three outlets are located in Johannesburg, three are located in Pretoria, and two are located in Cape Town and Durban.

The ten Audi e-tron stores will be equipped with quick electric vehicle charging stations and will be open to the general public. DC 50 to 75 kW charging infrastructure is available.

Charging at home and the value proposition

Audi customers will be able to get a free home check from an authorised service provider to examine their home charging needs and determine what changes or installations are required.

Audi also stated that it will cover the installation of a 32Amps industrial socket up to the worth of R5,000 to assist with the proper construction of a charging point within the customer's home.

This design will make it simple to integrate single-phase electricity with the Audi e-tron charger, which will supply roughly 7.2 kW of power toward a 100 percent charge in about 13 hours.

Depending on the customer's needs at home, an Audi-approved service provider can optionally install further power enhancements. The installation of a home charging system would be made easier by the relevant Audi shop, according to the statement.

Access to a public charging network that already exists

Audi South Africa has teamed with Gridcars to provide e-tron consumers with access to South Africa's expanding public charging network, which already includes over 280 universal charge point connectors.

The performance credentials of the e-tron model line are as follows:
