A Criminal Cases Which Involved 53 Military Vets Has Been Withdrawn By The Pretoria Magistrate Court
The Pretoria Magistrates Court has dismissed a criminal case in which 53 military veterans were accused of incarcerating two priests and an appointive officer. The Public Prosecution Service reports that the case was dropped due to the accused's effective representations. The allegations stem from an incident in October 2021 in which 26 individuals, including Thandi Modise, Thabang Makwetla, Minister of the Presidency Mondli Gungubele, and two guardians, were kept captive at the St. George's Hotel.
Mkhwebane's impeachment inquiry has chosen evidence leaders. Two experienced lawyers have been named as evidence leaders for Public Protector Busisiwe Mkwhebane's impeachment investigation. The Section 194 Committee, the parliamentary committee charged with investigating Mkhwebane's fitness to hold office, was informed that advocate Nazreen Bawa SC will be the lead evidence leader, with advocate Ncumisa Mayosi serving as the other evidence leader.
The Spartak Moscow and Dutch international forward had been accused of stabbing a relative at a family event in July 2020, subsequently; he was arrested in December of that year and kept in police custody for questioning on the matter before being released. The 29-year-old football player has denied any of the accusations, however, according to Dutch national broadcaster NOS, Promes had stabbed the relative in the leg, just below the knee in front of multiple witnesses after an argument had taken place.
