Half the sentence was suspended for five years. Thumeka, 43, is the sister of Nyameka Qongqo, 45, a former OR Tambo district municipality assistant project accountant who was convicted last year.

Sister of jailed accountant also found guilty of stealing R9.8 million from OR Tambo municipality

A second Qongqo sibling is headed to jail for stealing millions from the OR Tambo District Municipality. Thumeka, 44, the sister of former OR Tambo accountant Nyameka Qongqo, was convicted in the Mthatha high court on Thursday for theft and money laundering six years after the Hawks pounced on the two and their lovers.
