The Competition Commission has been investigating the dominance of Shoprite's Computicket outlets. According to the commission Shoprite entered in to exclusive deals with organisations of all major events including stage and sports.

Computicket pays yet another fine as a result of exclusive negotiations with event organizers.

The Computicketgroup, which is owned by Shoprite, has agreed to pay a fine of more than R11.3 million to the Competition Commission. According to the commission, between 2013 and 2018, Computicket entered into exclusive agreements with theaters, promoters, and other event organizers, preventing rivals from accessing the ticketing industry.

Percival ‘Percy’ Tucker, the found of Computicket has died from Covid-19 related complications at the age of 92. Tucker, began his lifelong passion for theatre at the age of 10 when he offered his parents lounge as a ‘green room’ to a touring company visiting Benoni Town Hall at the time, in exchange for tickets. He became a backstage worker in 1943 at the East Rand Theatre Club. He from the University of Witwatersrand with a BCom in Accounting. In 1954, he opened a ticketing sales company ‘Show Service’.
