3 South Africans arrested in Botswana, are linked to a series of robberies. 3 South Africans and Botswana nationals were arrested on Friday by Botswana police services, after being spotted with a stolen vehicle. The suspects are believed to be in connection with a series of crimes that have been happening in Botswana this past month.
In a harrowing incident, a furious 26-year-old man of Gantsi has killed and burnt the bodies of his girlfriend‘s mother (53) and two children aged 13 and five years old. Botswana Police Services deputy spokesperson Near Bagali confirmed investigating the matter. Bagali said the man was arrested following a report this past weekend by his girlfriend (31) that he threatened to kill her.

It is reported that a gang involved in cash-in-transit heist in Botswana, Gaborone have been arrested.Apparently (3) South Africans and (2) Botswana nationals have been apprehended after trying to escape using an alleged stolen getaway vehicle.The suspects were found with AK-47 rifles and electronic communication jammers that they were using to commit the crime.
Cross border criminal activities is problematic in South Africa but it seem like it is spiraling to our neighboring Botswana. It is not the first time we hear that South Africans were involved in criminal activities in Botswana. Few months ago some South Africans were among 11 people who were killed in Botswana cash and transit robbery
The Rosettenville shootout was the leading story for most of the week. The shootout highlighted the growth of cross border crimes in the SADC region. But there was also a cash in transit shoot out between Botswana police assistance well as robbers. Nine robbers were killed during the shootout.
