It has been three weeks after the local government elections,the mayors of various manucipalities are being instated.The Inkatha Freedom Party has claimed few mayoral positions across the province of Kwazulu natal after engaging in the the coalition with the African National Congress.Things have drastically changed for the first time in electoral history of South Africa,the African National Congress failed to obtain and surpass the fifty percent mark for the first time,the ANCs weaknesses automatically translated to the opposition parties,of which some of them are very young.The mayoral and the speaker's positions were highly contested in various manucipalities.The newly appointed mayor of the Inkatha Freedom Party Nkonzoyakhe Donda got people talking after he bought her wife a beautiful car just a week after he was elected,the mayor was escorted by the convoy of X5s BMW with blue lights.The mayor brought the city to a standstill and people started complaining that he has already started misusing the public funds.The south African Police Services has the VIP unit that can very well take care of these people instead of flaunting infront of the voters with a blue lights of a very expensive cars.The politicians are enjoying lavish lives,given the fact that many manucipalities are under administration and the service delivery severely affected,it will be much better for the manucipalities to cut the unnecessary costs by scrapping some of the benefits enjoyed by the employees.People can't be using more than five cars to escort one individual to his wife.The wasteful expenditures are very common within the political spectrum,some of the politicians are hosting unnecessary events and ceremonies at the expense of the poor south Africans,such funds could very well be directed to some of a very important matters affecting the ordinary people.It high time that the politicians changes their attitude,the African National Congress has suffered a great loss due to this wasteful practices that are putting forward the interests of the politicians ahead of the masses.
